Google reviews of housing associations regard a survey of over 20 reviews as reflective of the true opinions of customers.

Google had a total of 43 reviews of which 2 were positive. Some left no comment but simply a one star rating. Many have said they would have left zero stars if it had been possible.

Would give zero stars if I could.

“Shared ownership” with this absolute joke of a company was the biggest mistake of my life! Anyone thinking of doing it - DONT. The only thing they will do for you is up the rent by over £400+ year in year out (whilst you’re also paying a mortgage)

To add insult to injury they then add communal area charges even when you have no communal areas!

If I was in a position to get out of the shared ownership contract I would in an absolute heartbeat.

I am classified as a vulnerable person and Accent Peerless allowed neighbours to victimise other neighbours with in their group and they don’t do anything about it.

I have been left in a dangerous situation with no help Where I don’t even want to leave my front door. They allow hate crimes, fly tipping and dumping in the area from neighbours.

Accent Peerless used to be an amazing association but now they’re nothing more than the dregs of the Earth!

I have had no heating for over 3 years and took them over two years to give me 2 small fan heaters. They lie to you and make excuses. Only ever saw any movement when I tweeted the CEO on their Twitter account. Suggest all should! Useless and uncaring! Still took all my rent every month never offered a rebate despite me having to freeze! Still looks like a 4th cold Xmas though!

Avoid at all cost.

Very poor service by contractors, years and years charged for money but no work to be done.

Very very poor customer service by contact centre, arguing and very rude with customer over the phone ( her name is Francis in this occasion but I have a list of name) I do not understand how can leave this company to trade at all.Since the new owner placed everything is on the lower ground.

Should not been receive any money for this horrible service. Everyone complaining all of the neighbours almost 7000 property. Where is the customer are paid for? where?

I have to say I am shocked to find my new service charge listing for 2020 2021. No real explanation to some of the charges that have been hiked up.

Service charge has gone up from 467.52 to 621.48.

A new addition to the service charge sundry expenses states this is the cost of providing other ad hoc services to the communal area and your state which basically could mean anything. They have just added a charge of £4744.20 and I pay 1–75 and additional charge of £63.26

TV costs have gone from £229.73 to £3329.17 and I pay 1–75. So this element of the charge I have gone from paying £3.06 to £44.39. Furthermore I have never seen a skip on the estate or any tree management undertaken so I feel that these are not accurate figures.

This is also pushed up Accent Group‘s management fee from £61.00 to £81.01

I feel that I am being ripped off by accent housing association.

The response I have had from Mr Damien Roche from accent is;

There may have been items added to the service charge over the years, but we believe them to be legitimate. It may be that you benefited from them not being charged for a period of time. However, tree maintenance and removal of rubbish are, we believe, legitimate service charges.

You are not paying anything more because others may not pay. We engage with anyone who does not pay in order to assist them, where necessary, to sustain their tenancy. We tackle that as a debt; we do not pass it on to other residents.

The service charge is not, in our opinion, a matter for negotiation. We set an annual service charge budget estimate, based upon known contractual costs, and historical trends (e.g. for utilities), plus a small management fee. We therefore make no profit from the service charge. You have the right to challenge the value for money of the service charge, but we would either accept that there was an error or we justify the charge.

'nothing happens'

I have been waiting over 14 months for Accent to replace a few fence panels that they are responsible for on a shared garden border. Despite suggesting work is going to take place, nothing happens.

They're correspondence and response times are sluggish in the extreme. If they treat their neighbours like this I dread to think how they treat their tenants. Update: I'm still waiting for the fence to be replaced!

Accent Group do not have a group of strong individuals, they are nothing but a gang of money grabbers.

I have been a tenant for 14 years and the bosses and management are diabolical and very very snooty. I have an open case with the Housing Ombudsman and another one on the way.

They refuse to listen to me when l report a repair. l found most of their staff very annoying and unhelpful. They seem to enjoy your discomfort when you are not happy. They sent people round who stuck their hand under the shower and said that there's nothing wrong with it. They refused to listen to me and seemed to enjoy arguing about it. I am a disabled OAP and l find their manner towards me unfreindly and uncooperative.

My review should read no stars at all☹️

The housing association are nothing but a bunch of evil money grabbers and low low life's. 😞

Accent has gone down hill over the years.

There was a time when you could pop into the office if you had a problem but now you need to book an appointment. The repair budget must be extremely tight as the contractors cut so many corners rather than do the job properly. Not impressed.

Having the same problem as everyone else on here. Have been waiting for a shared fence to be repaired for 6 years, ive actually given up and done it myself. Have had really bad problems with neighbours, reported as per Accent Peerless procedure and get nowhere.

This company do not care about their tenants or people who lease their properties. I'm not sure how they continually get away with treating people so badly.........

Really bad housing association. When I moved in my house didn't even have a proper lock on front door. Complained and Accent sent someone round who told me it was double locking, got a locksmith round and he told me it was not. Also had no insulation in half the loft, complained and after several months someone came round and pulled insulation from one side of loft over to the other. Had no fan in bathroom either, no heating at all in kitchen (for 9 years), have been lied to on numerous occasions, eventually went to the housing ombudsman and won my case.

Over the last two winters my boiler packed up twice. On both occasions Accent were advised to replace. They didnt and I spent last year with no heating over xmas and new years (5 weeks in total). After issues this winter I complained. An independent plumber came out and said the boiler should have been replaced 3 years ago.

One of the problems with Accent is the majority of the staff don't care or see the tenants as an issue before you even speak with them. This causes the tenants to see the staff in the same way and a majority of the issues are made worse before you even begin.

If you don't fight for stuff you won't get them. Which is a huge issue in social housing. It means the people that truely need help are just ignored.

But the problems run deeper than that. The attitude of Accent is so bad that the feeling is it is better not to deal with them. I suspect this is done by design, but it is a double whammy for the vunerable people that Accent house so many of because of the nature of peoples position in life to need to apply in the first place.

I am taking the housing association to the housing Ombudsman for a second time now. And I would suggest that if anyone is not happy with them to do the same. Go to your local councilor/MP and make a noise. Nothing will change unless we fight against this.

Would give a minus score if possible. they sent 7 different boiler engineers out and only the last knew what he was doing. Spent a week of annual leave waiting in for the calls and more. Oh and to top if off I would wait 24 hrs but wasn't allowed to go out or get engineer to say was on way.

Second complaint...I asked about why I had only two working doors out of five and who was responsible...got no answer for 6 months (via email)

Shocking customer care skills, if CQC had to / could do to evaluate them, they be shut down!!!!

This Housing Association is absolutely horrendous it is the worst house i have ever lived in these people need naming and shaming especially Jennie Barnes accusing me of threatening behaviour when they leave us without heat and hot water for 20 weeks and then do it again for two weeks and then threaten to evict me not once but twice.

It is called retaliatory eviction absolutely disgusting people not fit to be called landlords.

I don’t think they warrant any stars.

I believe my boiler is leaking carbon monoxide and Mears and Accent lie to my face my landlords in Garforth were bad but no where need as bad as these.

Please never ever go with these shoddy people AVOID AVOID. I wish i had never met them.

Shocking, I haven’t yet met a member of staff who actually knows what they are doing. Seems they are all out of their depths even with easy tasks!

Money management so bad they just put up the service charge each year! Repairs are shockingly bad, never done correct the first time!

No customer service, I find that the staff talk down to you, Also I have been lied too about emergency repairs aswell as call out times. Awful company with a high turn over of staff. Accent peerless DO NOT CARE ABOUT TENNENTS! AVOID!!!.

The staff is very unhelpful, if you try to complain and ask for Management you will need to wait for “never” to be put through as everyone are always in meetings. When someone says they will call back - you might as well be sure they will not.

I have encountered numerous complaints with Accent!

After 17 visits (if they arrive) failure to sort my boiler issues(no hot water or heating) and umpteen phone calls I have never seen a landlord like this one I have two carers twice a day and have severe incontinence probs,so I need two showers daily so today it is yet again happened so it is down to the local leisure center to have a shower.

Totaly unhelpful to rectify this reoccuring problem I give them 1 star and hope they do not have to suffer the B/S or disability themselves
