Accent residents facebook site
In 2017 Accent residents published their own independent facebook site in response to the fact Accent prevent any comments on posts on their 'official' site.
It allows residents an open forum on which to express their feeling towards the service provided by Accent Housing.
Because of the sheer volume of complaints and criticism on that site I have only published a selection of more recent posts.
The majority of complaints are from tenants concerning the appalling repairs service provided by Accent Housing. It is disturbing how the same problems are repeated across the entire country many involving tenants with serious health issues.
Residents reviews of Accent Housing
Seems that not a lot changes when dealing with accent housing
The only way forward is to turn everything it into a formal complaint regardless of what it is ie Repairs, Rent arrears or there general obnoxious attitude.
The lower echelon spend most of everyday covering up for one another
Accent Housing talk a lot about "improving services" in their glossy brochures, but my mother (age 77) is being left without heating until at least 4th November, and I have been without hot water for over a week, no news on when the part will be fitted.
Is it really any wonder their tenant satisfaction is low? If their own contractors are too busy maybe they should be calling non-contracted companies to meet their repair obligations.
Since March this year our court yards tv aerial has broken. Lovely gentleman came our but could only temp repair it until accent agreed to a new part. I've been paying within my rent maintenance for tv aerial since 2018.
This aerial according to the repair man has never been touched.
This doesn't surprise me. They tried to add a service charge for a communal TV aerial to my house. I don't even have a TV aerial, let alone a communal one!
I.T. reply. Accent shouldn't be charging you for services that aren't being done. They are also supposed to provide invoices for any work or services specific to your building. Given my mum's experience in one of these courts, they charge for lots of things that aren't being done or don't apply to her court, charge for gas/electricity supplied to her flat that she pays Ovo energy separately for, and they wont provide invoices/receipts. It's like they've taken all the costs that apply to all their schemes and then averaged them out instead of keeping them specific.
Accent desperately need to be independently audited. The problems are so numerous and seem to be embedded in the system. Complaints get you nowhere - even if you write directly to senior staff at head office they just pass it back off to the local team and nothing gets done.
Hi everyone in just using this post to let off steam about the awful service from Accent. We have not had any gardeners (sorry grass cutters) for going on for 3 months.
The grass is beyond knee high and it's nearly impossible to hang washing out. Majority of our residents at Rooley Court, Sowerby are in our 70's or have physical impedements. When ring a couple of weeks age we were told its because it's raining. Well thats a load of rubbish they've cut the grass in rain regularly.
We have also been waiting since the beginning of the year for a new secure door for our communal area. It's been measured in March but nothing since.
We are in flats and reported our door entry system not working last night. No one could get in the building unless someone came down and physically opened the door for them.
My husband reported it at 7.30pm and they said someone would be out within 4hours if we could let them in. He stayed up until midnight waiting and they turned up at 9 this morning 🤬
J.S. We have a 93 year old gentleman who has to walk down stairs to open the door as the entry system hasn't ever worked for two years.
S.S. That is typical of accent not interested anymore all about the money now
L.D. same in every independent living place, they don't give a s::t as long as they get there rent, don't worry about if we can eat
This is how our estate is being managed. Clearly too few bins.
Accent Housing receive £30/month per flat to manage this estate. We have a revolving door of estate managers coming and going at the moment!!
The gardener's have been I use the term gardener's should say grass cutters they haven't used a lawnmower just a strimmer looks like Stevie Wonder cut it. This is what we pay for.
C.R. I am still waiting on them to come cut the hedges greenfingers need a kick up the ass. Have told accent this.
S.S. Service we all now get is shocking
N.B. Aw your lucky. Not 🤬iI now have brambles bushes weeds ect growing over my drive had to cut them myself. So could get in car never had them in all the18 yrs Iv lived here. Ringing accent. See when they dine back estate looks. A mess
If anyone has had problems with TSG for the gas maintenance you will be pleased to know that accent have cancelled their contract.
K.S. TGS are dire on about 7th visit to repair my boiler which I reported in February with explosive ignition and still not fixed only 30 months old as well.
J.G. Hopefully the new contractor will actually show up and also cater to the customer.
Heating Servicing, Repairs and Installations - East Region has been awarded to Aaron Services from Dartford. Trust Pilot has 105 reviews with 87% with one star, so not looking good for the eight regions in the East of the country.
K and T Heating part of the same group with 91% bad reviews out of 360. Madness in my opinion.
My mother is 86 and has dementia along with other problems. Had to endure 2 months without any hot water, literally nothing coming out of the taps. The Accent management team are beyond incompetent.
An old man of 85 with dementia very unsteady on his feet has a wet room no windows in the bathroom his light bulb went and there a sealed unit on Saturday morning rung accent emergency team and they said nothing they could do while Tuesday put a lamp ln the wet room absolutely disgusting
Reply J.S. The soon on ye back though if ye don’t pay ye bleeding rent. The make me sick
As for Housing partners..' the one for my area stood in my sons bungalow, when water was coming through his ceiling including light fitting and said " I'm really embarrassed, standing here but there's nothing I can do my hands are tied!!!..
So I said well why come here why didn't you send someone that could do something.. took him ages to get it sorted
Thornville Court. BD8 7AZ
This place is looking like a run down dump! (Once upon a time this was a nice place to live)
Our housing officer should be ashamed.
From doors that don't lock shut (been out a dozen times but unable to fix).over grown gardens and trees(I have to have my lights on even in the day because of the trees been overgrown). Missing lids on bins (the rats love this!)
Broken unusable bin FULL of rubbish(bins been like this for months).
Clothes drying area broken glass and rubbish on ground(often has furniture dumped, furniture been moved but not swept). Paths and outdoor steps not been swept in months. These matters have been reported several times over the months.
Im still waiting from January for somebody to come and assess the black mould and cracked ceilings in my flat due to a water leak from the flat above me.
Sounds familiar. We are leaving Aprilia Court, Bradford, we've had enough.
Accent is a disgrace.
It took over a year to fix my fence that danced in the wind (god only knows how it didn't fall down and I have a blind elderly rescue dog to worry about escaping). A year and a half to fix (new and fitted less than a year old when first complaints went in) back door, front door and three repairs on landing window (couldn't shut it) and bathroom window catch literally came off in my hand.
I'd already heard about them being completely and utterly useless. Unfortunately outvoted by people that believed their lies. Now we all have to put up with their lies and incompetence. Literally hundreds of phone calls to get my repairs done. Surely I pay rent and you do the maintenance and upkeep of the properties, right?????, no unfortunately not. They are shit with a capital SH!!!!!!!!!
Anyone know how to contact accent and get a straight answer to a question?
No shower for over 3 weeks 84 and 87 year olds can’t use the bath due to mobility issues. Plumbers keep getting cancelled. I was told yesterday the shower was condemned on Wednesday, mum has been waiting in since then for a plumber to come and fix it !!!
I've been waiting three weeks for my hot water to be sorted, been using the kettle and boiling pans of water to wash me and my four year old, still got another week to wait yet🙄 they can be very slack..
What I object to is being charged for services that do not happen. £250 last year for fly tipping. No fly tipping occurred. The Council will take away 3 items for £35. to my mind this is fraud.
Ian Williams - contractor firm Accent Housing.
Totally useless! Nothing changes! I’ve had to call them myself to ensure an emergency job has been actioned. It’s a fire exit and serious issues! Only to find out, the emergency job sent by Accent to Ian Williams was just sitting in an email folder and NOT BEING ACTIONED OR PASSED ONTO the PLANNERS! Nothing has changed YET AGAIN! Anyone else about to rip their hair out?!
I for one am sick of hearing the same excuses. This is the case with Accent Housing all over the country!!! Not just here! Photos of peoples homes I’ve seen up and down the country make me want to cry. I have terrible issues however there are so many suffering at the hands of this housing association. They will continue to get away with it if we don’t act and get justice. I am not prepared to sit back quiet and take this abuse. This is illegal what’s happening across the county and how they gotten away with it this long I don’t know!
Ian Williams are shocking to say the least and I have no clue how they have got and still have the contract to do repairs. 16 appointments made, 16 cancelled or no show, 2 formal complaints not even acknowledged (to iam williams) and 2 closed down by accent due to appointment dates being given (then later cancelled by Ian Williams, they are great at finding loop holes). I finally got the repair sorted some 11 months after initially reporting it!
Why the hell does Accent allow TSG to treat their tenants so sh*t??? I have no heating, no hot water and pool of water in hall from under skirting board. Reported to Accent out of hours yesterday and nobody will come out, i am riddled with arthritis and with depression, my mental health nurse even rung them explaining how vunerable i am, but they dont give a monkeys toss. Why are they allowed to treat tenants this way, feel like i am scum when i come of phone to them. I have been told it is not emergency.
just had a very arrogant man on the phone from repair section saying that we had to do our own minor repairs because we have MOLD problems and this has been going on for over 12 months now and all they do is paint over with mold products now we have been told we have to do it ourselves what do we pay rent for we thought that part of it goes to minor repairs so we are thinking about contacting environmental health because we both have Asthma and K has COPD
I'm absolutely furious, Tuesday evening I spotted a leak in my property ( ceiling and wall stained) immediately thought there must be a leak in the upstairs property. So I called the out of hrs team to be told as there's no water trickly down the wall it wasn't an emergency and to call back in the morning.
Which I did, only to be asked can I not go upstairs to investigate where the leak is coming from mmmm no that's your job not mine.
Plus the woman upstairs has a key safe for carers as she's bed bound at the mo. Got a msg to her via one of her carers, so I knew when she rang them etc. Low and behold I rang them 2 pm to find out roughly when the plumber would arrive. Only to be told the emergency job hadn't even been raised yet.
It turned out to be the guttering. So I called the housing and yet again nothing they can do unless water is literally trickly down my wall. So I've got to ring them tomorrow. I start getting ready for bed as my 4 mth old son the last few nights due to growth spurt has woke up hungry 3 am bless him. And what do I notice but water trickling down the wall. Well screw you, I'm not ringing you at this time after all you don't have to deal with a baby who's waking up in middle of night and fighting his naps. If you'd listened to me earlier today and sent somebody to clear the guttering this wouldn't be happening.
After all it's the guttering so in the dark there's nothing they could safely anyway. Thankfully the leak is in the lounge and my son and I are in the bedroom. Also to top it off, due to baby brain I kept forgetting to inform the housing my lounge radiator isn't straight on the wall, just assumed it wouldn't be a high priority case. So I asked the plumber to straighten it whilst he was here as i physically cannot lift it.
Only to find out it's hanging on by one hinge and could literally fall off at any moment. So i rang the housing yet again, only to he informed as it's not an emergency to call them in the morning. Wtf -, my son plays on the floor in front of the radiator. And he's rolled a couple of times. Sorry just needed to rant.
We live in an accent block of flats and they had water leaking in their roof and accent did nothing until the ceiling caved in at 6 in the morning 3 weeks later!!
Our boiler locked out Wednesday last week. We've had no central heating since. Every time I've called through we've been 'fobbed' off. "An engineer will be with you before 6pm today" 6pm comes and goes and.....no engineer! It got to the weekend I've had to chase out of hours to get them to drop off fan heaters only to be told that the contractor can't fix the boiler over the weekend as it's oil, it will probably need parts 🤦🏻♀️ That's why I called in everyday since Wednesday!!
Then, the gas engineer that finallu turns up only to drop fan heaters, tells us that the contractor has taken on too many contracts, 1 of which is our main city area of over 7,500 houses 😳 Its no wonder we're still waiting for it to be fixed! We have 2 children in the house and I'm disabled (MS) it's disgusting that they've left us this long. Sorry to rant and this is my 1st post too 🙈🙊 I've got to chase them again tomorrow, does anyone know what our rights are? I am so angry and frustrated about the whole ordeal!
I’ve taken them successfully to court and won compensation too. It’s been a four year legal battle and they’ve still effed everything up😡. They are in the process of trying to rectify things🙄🙄🙄🙄 Paul Deach can point you to the correct councillor for you (sorry Paul, I can never remember 🤦🏻♀️
Over the last two winters my boiler packed up twice. On both occasions Accent were advised to replace. They didnt and I spent last year with no heating over xmas and new years (5 weeks in total). After issues this winter I complained. An independent plumber came out and said the boiler should have been replaced 3 years ago.
One of the problems with Accent is the majority of the staff don't care or see the tenants as an issue before you even speak with them. This causes the tenants to see the staff in the same way and a majority of the issues are made worse before you even begin.
If you don't fight for stuff you won't get them. Which is a huge issue in social housing. It means the people that truely need help are just ignored.
But the problems run deeper than that. The attitude of Accent is so bad that the feeling is it is better not to deal with them. I suspect this is done by design, but it is a double whammy for the vunerable people that Accent house so many of because of the nature of peoples position in life to need to apply in the first place.
I am taking the housing association to the housing Ombudsman for a second time now. And I would suggest that if anyone is not happy with them to do the same. Go to your local councilor/MP and make a noise. Nothing will change unless we fight against this.
This is disgusting treatment, my boiler has been off all day with 4 children x1 with a disability and myself so why they ask on the phone is there any vulnerable people in the property cos it makes no difference it's almost 11pm and I'm still waiting for a call from "engineer ' some housing association!!! Pitiful
They never keep appointments.
My parents have waited in twice for an electrician and both times they never turned up.
My neighbours 2 floors up have had a water leak for over a month and now my neighbour directly above me had had her bathroom ceiling come down and she’s trying to mop up the best she can so it doesn’t come through to us.
They were supposed to come out last night as an emergency as there is water in the electrics but didn’t show as the electrician said they won’t come until after the plumber.
Really peed off with accent now. They were great years ago. Never had any issues getting repairs done. Both back door and front door are letting huge amounts of cold air through, windows are absolutely crap, letting all my heating escape. The heating is on constantly to try to keep warm but still sat here in hoodie and big dressing gown. I have called them about it 3 times now with a promise of a call from an inspector to arrange a visit...sod all. I want to know if i can claim for this. I know everyone is paying huge amounts in rising fuel costs bit i don't see why i have to do this futile attempt each day to keep warm. What can i do about this?
I've always paid for my own the wait time on some repairs with accent is horrendous
Life is so frustrating trying to communicate with Accent. If I ask 3 questions only one would be answered. Try to help other tenants on the scheme and keep the place in some sort of good order. Report a problem with a flood light not working and virtually told that I am lying. Told that I would receive a phone call from a customer partner, and no one calls. Send an email to a customer partner early afternoon and the reply arrives at 17:00pm. When I reply I then get a message stating I am not available for another week and will not be picking up any emails. Never see a customer partner from one year to the next. If a customer partner has too much work to look after tenants, I suggest that Accent employ more people to do the job. As tenants we are just ignored unless the rent is not up to date. It is such a sad affair to be treated in this way. When will Accent get a grip and start treating the people they house in a proper and respectable manner.
I live in the south of the country with accent being our landlord. The local Borough council have that many complaints about Accent that they review Accents policies and repair programme and ensure repairs are done, every few months when the council have their council meetings. This was taken up by a local ward councillor. Maybe get ur local Councillor involved?.
Can I ask what is the role of customer partners as everything I mention to mine comes back with I can't get involved with that ... I moved to an accent owned house in June this year and I have never in all my 54 years known a company to be so incompetent.. they employ cowboys to complete repairs that have to keep coming back because they can't seem to fix the repair the 1st time round... yet there are no managers to speak to only customer partners that " can't get involved ".
Trying to get them to anything full stop is hard work. We’ve been approved by occupational health to have our bathroom replaced with a wet room and accent were passed the funding and everything by the council to sort it out and arrange things. They have taken so long (almost a year) to do anything that the council have now taken it all back and have arranged it themselves and within a couple of weeks we now have a timeline for work. Why do accent make it so difficult.
I have cried so much this week and suffered with horrendous migraines due to the stress .
Reading other people's stories on here has actually shocked me. I really had no idea that others would also be suffering at the hands of these incompetent 'professionals'
I would love to see how long they would be able to survive in the horrendous living conditions they have put us all through!!!
It seems like the decent ( Nene Housing Association for example) were eaten up by Accent which so many tenants seem to regard as little more than A slum landlord. Their attitude towards tenants is a disgrace, much of it led by the dreadful second rate staff that they employ (probably for peanuts). The greatest fear that the landlord has is if tenant lists are built up in the public domain
Here we go again Expert roofers been to do roof All day on it Sub contract by Williams but guess what rain coming in again How many times are you going to keep doing these cheap bodge repairs Roof needs complete strip and re felting but piece meal is accents trademark
I have lived in an accent property for 16 years. Such bad landlords !!!
We have bought a house and move in two weeks. Cannot wait. I had a call from them asking if there was anything they could do to make me stay as I'm a good tenant. He sounded surprised to hear what terrible land Lords they are. He didn't know what to say when I gave him a list of issues I've had that have not been resolved. Not even an apology.
Their lack of empathy and not dealing with issues is making people depressed. Home should be your safe haven not a place to avoid
If only they was as fast and reliable with repairs as they are with rent arrears they phone daily some times twice
Such a sad lot Accent they know there not accountable We have no say yet pay their wages take no notice their policies suck for example parking No desire to manage the problem just prepaired to see elderly disabled residents inconvenienced and suffer
If I’d have known just how f@£ing awful Accent were I would have turned down their offer of a brand new home!!!
Leaking roof since day 1, 8 1/2 years ago! Broken window unfixed since day 1. A toilet that won’t stop running, bathroom lights with 10 year light bulbs that cost £5 every six months to replace.
I could continue. This company is a joke. I’m scared the roof is going fall in and all I get is, sorry it’s with the contractors.
At last, on the cusp of having enough deposit to move out of my 8 year damp/wet Accent nightmare, good luck to the next tennant in getting the roof fixed, and a window replaced, trying to find parking and being patronised by your private neighbour. Ive hated living in a house owned by Accent and can only say, work and save hard and get out of their houses of horror.
Hazelhurst Court: Fall pipes not connected to guttering, cleaners now attending once a fortnight, rubbish chutes blocked nobody can attend for five days (I unblocked them myself) bin store is an absolute shit hole and druggies in the car park. As a former Anchor tenant I can say they were certainly not without fault but compared to this lot they were bloody angels!
Accent housing are an absolute appauling disgrace my son in laws house has been suffering from subsidance for 3 yrs, during which time the movement has been constant and accent have done nothing even ignore the housing ombusman south cambs have been to check and they said house is unsafe 2wks ago still not even a surveyor has been out the list of repairs are endless the workmen refuse to do jobs as its unsafe still hes left living there with my grandson
Very poor communication never return calls and when they do they have the completely wrong information. Do not update you on anything. Can't make a complaint as apparently they do it on your behalf 🤔🤔 Not keeping appointments and basically leaving my house in this state
